What the Ask Capy assistant can help with, what it deliberately will not do, and how it uses web search.
What Ask Capy can do
Ask Capy knows how every feature in A La Carte works and can walk you through any of them.
Examples of what to ask:
- 'How do I share a recipe with my mom?'
- 'My Pinterest import didn't work, why?'
- 'How do I plan meals for next week?'
- 'What's the difference between Pantry and Groceries?'
It can also look up your own data: 'what's in my marinara recipe?', 'what's on my grocery list?', 'what am I cooking on Thursday?'
It answers general cooking questions too — substitutions, technique, what to do when something has gone wrong — and can search the web when a question needs current information. When it does, the sites it used appear above the answer, and you can tap any of them to read the source.
Open it from the capybara button, then 'Ask Capy'. You can attach a photo to a message.
What Ask Capy won't do
Ask Capy is read-only where your data is concerned — it can show you what you have but can't change it. To add something to your grocery list, plan a meal, or favorite a recipe, do that from the relevant tab.
For creating or changing a recipe, use Create or 'Edit with AI' on the recipe itself — those can write, and Ask Capy deliberately cannot.
Like every AI feature here, it can be wrong. Anything touching an allergy is worth verifying yourself.
